«Euromaidans» and «veches» (popular assemblies) are taking place in Kiev. Young Euro fanatics are going rampant demanding «the association with Europe.» They are not aware that Europe is not only the place of gay-clubs and brothels, the EU is also notorious for mass youth unemployment and police uses water cannons to disperse protesters there. These people have no idea that the «association» means they’ll have no future staying home. There will be no social welfare elevator, not even a routine welfare stairway. No standing on European porch – a visa free regime is a pipe dream. Bulgaria and Romania have been waiting for it for many years, they still have not got it. Moreover, the Prime Minister of Great Britain has already called for prohibition of free movement inside the European Union for citizens of the organization’s new members till the gross domestic product per capita in these states does not reach the average European level.

Now the miscellaneous assemblage of Ukrainian nationalists is storming the presidential building, they have seized the City Hall and the Trade Union House breaking down the doors and smashing windows.

At that the European Union looks more like a mouse trap for those who couldn’t stand the temptation to join the mirage of European prosperity. Pretty soon it’ll be clear which countries manage to keep afloat and which will get deleted from the world map becoming part of European superstate. In Europe leaders of nationalist parties like Marine Le Pen in France and Nigel Farage in the United Kingdom are waging a fierce battle to preserve sovereignty and national identity standing up to cosmopolitan Brussels and imperial Berlin. But the maidan-obsessed Ukrainians appear to be ready to sell their homeland down the river having grown accustomed during dozens of years to the role of errand boys serving ever-changing masters.

One way or another it’s not the time for placidity. The European Union and the United States have joined efforts in an attempt to influence Ukraine. The European Union appears to have committed a mistake – while approaching the signing of the association agreement, Poland was made responsible for dealing with Ukraine. The Polish leadership focused on the issue of Yulia Timoshenko and her place in European and world history. The Poland’s Sisyphean toil, especially the efforts of former President Polish Alexander Kvasnevsky, poorly matched the drawn-out dispute between Berlin and Paris over the issue of who should take responsibility for paying the Ukrainian bills. Ultimately, it became clear that there is no one who could shoulder the burden while Europe is hit by crisis. So the association was doomed. It became clear that not only «enlightened» Europe, but also «savage» Eurasia knows how to count money.

The Ukraine’s refusal to sign the association agreement with the European Union meant a much bigger failure for Russia’s Western «partners». The «partners» used the association as a pretext for achieving the goal – isolated from Ukraine, Russia would be squeezed out farther to the East what would constitute the most drastic geopolitical shift in Eurasia in the last twenty years. After Ukraine, Belorussia would be the next to finally create a cordon between Russia and Europe. Associated with the European Union, Ukraine would swiftly move to the direction of joining NATO. That’s what was hidden under the disguise of European integration…

It has failed. In response, the West made the Ukrainian «street protests» go rampant. As people’s deputy Oleg Tsarev told some time ago, the United States embassy in Kiev hosts Techcamp program which has recently launched the training course for «revolutionaries» tasked with sparking a civil war in Ukraine. The frequency of attacks against policemen, doors smashed down and broken windows, it all goes to show that the US-led training is up to par.

The Western «partners» sharp reaction after the failure of Vilnius summit is exacerbated by other recent frustrations. In October the South Stream construction was launched in Serbia, Turkey joined the project. The Bucharest-held China – Central and Eastern Europe summit happened to be one more irritant for the West. The China’s desire to discuss the issue of investments with the Central and Eastern European states going around Brussels made the European Union fly in a rage. European Commissioner Karel de Gucht said China practices «divide and rule» tactics. Brussels issued two directives categorically warning the 15 countries of the region against crossing any regulatory red lines when concluding separate economic deals with China. The action returned no result. The Central and Eastern states signed a record high number of agreements and many politicians used the opportunity to demonstrate to Brussels that the words about «European values» are never backed up by real money.

Talking about the events unfolding in Ukraine some say nothing extraordinary is occurring. Ordinary power struggle is taking place under the veil of fight for European integration. It partially rings true. But there is another aspect of the matter. The Ukrainian opposition (or what is called using this term) has always been known for its outstanding cowardice and complete lack of ability to take resolute actions. Still all of a sudden it started active and bold actions using the romantic infatuation of young people with the idea of European integration, the illusions of an average Ukrainian citizen about the united Europe and the Russophobia of nationalists. It all boils down to just one thing: the anti-government orgy is artfully orchestrated by well-trained people from foreign embassies…

The recent events on the streets of Kiev resemble collective madness. The question is what should the Ukrainian government do under the circumstances? The answer is obvious: No authority is worth anything unless it can defend itself. The means and methods depend on circumstances. According to government sources, a crisis meeting has taken place in the Kiev suburban residence of Mejgorie chaired by Ukraine’s President Viktor Yanukovych, the state of emergency is to be announced…
