Several days ago the Cuban TV showed “The Empire´s Pawns”, a documentary about the CIA’s subversive activities on the island of Freedom. This film contains revelatory stories from the agents of Cuban counterintelligence Carlos Serpa Maceira (cover name Emilio), Dalexi González Madruga (Raul) and Moisés Rodríguez (Vladimir). They all were in good books in the US representative office on Cuba. As “useful pawns” they carried out the CIA’s tasks which concern certain areas of the “oppositional activities”.
As the director of the Union of Free Journalists of Cuba, Carlos Serpa covered for the Western mass media (including the Jose Marti TV) the most evident cases of “confrontation” between dissident groups and the law enforcement agencies. The information about the Ladies in White group was in great demand in the US. This group was established on recommendation and financed from the funds of the CIA’s office in Havana. The Americans employed the radio engineer Dalexi Madruga for setting a secret Internet channel connection with the US. During one of secret meeting he received from the CIA all necessary equipment in including antennas which were hidden in surfing boards. As for Moisés Rodríguez, he was the head of the Cuban Human Rights and National Reconciliation Commission.
The instructions, spy equipment, the money granted by the CIA – all these things finally came into the hands of the Cuban security forces (traditionally labeled as G-2). As a rule, the information for the CIA was processed by the G-2 agents and the main points were “highlighted”. They gave to the CIA’s officers the information about people in the government, diplomatic missions, military forces who were “potential informants”. In permanent confrontation with the CIA, which was superior in terms of power and technical options, the Cuban intelligence service developed rapidly and began to win more and more frequently. Patriotism and self-sacrificing attitude are the main components of success…
The Island of Freedom has been the target of the US’ repressive attacks for more than 50 years. Socialistic Cuba located 90 miles from the US coast was an irritant the US could hardly bear. The arrogant and selfish Empire, which despises even its “friends” is striving towards the establishment of the new global order – PAX AMERICANA. Cuba has remained one of the few countries which dare to say “no” to the imperialistic policy of Washington in the current historical circumstances.
The Empire’s main tool is rough force. The arrogance of force – it seems like many countries have put up with this feature of the US’ behavior on the international arena. Those few, which dare to object to Washington, are at risk. The political leaders, who are the opponents of the Empire, are removed from the political arena one by one. They are “neutralized” by means of poisons and radioactive items (the recent example –Paraguay’s President Fernando Lugo), sent to prisons in the US or simply hanged for “non-observance of the commonly accepted norms of democracy”.
The United States is the main and the only terrorist, active on “the Cuban site” and around it. Since 1959, the Empire has carried out at least 6,000 terrorist attacks against Cuba. This includes 800 large-scale attacks which led to thousands of victims among peaceful citizens. In the US, the CIA managed 300 militarized anti-Castro groups with total number of 4,000 people. These terrorists with “the Empire’s license to kill” have carried out 550 “physical liquidations” (murders – in other words), while the number of wounded has exceeded several thousands people. In 1971, the US’ biological diversion against Cuba led to the destruction of half million of pig population. It was an attempt to cause hunger because pork is a traditional meat meal of Cuban people. In 1980-s, the CIA agents spread dengue mosquitoes in rural areas of Cuba. The mosquitoes were incubated in secret biological laboratories of the CIA. 344,000 people were infected with dengue fever, which in particular causes bleeding. 158 of them including children later died.
There could have been more attacks by the CIA if the Cuban intelligence had not worked so hard on disclosing of extremist organizations of Cuban immigrants in the US. The detention of “Five Cuban spies” in Florida by the FBI shows the scale of the preventive work of G-2 in the US.
The background of this case speaks for itself. In 1998, Havana received a delegation of US governmental officials, which also included the officials from the FBI. During the meeting with the Cuban colleagues the US official were provided materials about terrorist activities of the Cuban immigrants in Miami. The facts were true and convincing. The Americans said they were ready to continue cooperation and were determined “to be done” with extremists. But they lied. Instead of detaining the terrorists who in particular planned the murders of the Cuban leaders, the FBI focused on the detection of Castro’s people in the US.
“The Cuban Five” are: Gerardo Hernández, René González, Antonio Guerrero, Ramón Labañino and Fernando González. They were arrested in September 1998 on the charge of military and political espionage, “masterminding” of assassinations and committing other crimes. During the trial the rules of the legal proceedings were seriously violated. Impartiality was out of the question: threats to witnesses, a hostile campaign in mass media, highly prejudicial trial jury (the chairman proudly said that he had always spoken against the “dictatorship” of Fidel Castro). In June 2001, the trial jury sentenced three members of the Five to life and the other two to 15 and 19 years in prison. The court ignored that fact that the Cuban agents had entered only those American-Cuban organizations, which pursued the goal to overthrow the Cuban government by using force.
The political motives behind the verdict to the people, who really fought terrorism on the US territory, are obvious. Let’s take for example the CIA agents Luis Clemente Faustino Posada Carriles and Orlando Bosh, who were involved in the 1976 bombing of a Cuban airliner that killed 73 people – they are not in prison. Carriles has many other successful terrorist campaigns on Cuba, Venezuela and other countries of Central America on his list. That is why the US opposes a fair trial of this “veteran of terrorism”. In 2003, many documents, which contained evidence against Carriles, were destroyed following the decision of the General Prosecutor’s office and the FBI. The motivation for the liquidation read: “due to lack of proper storage conditions”.
The members of the “Five” have become heroes: they sacrificed their personal freedom for the security of Cuba. Their names are known all over the world. Some countries launched campaigns for their support. Even in the US there is n organization called “the National Committee to Free the Cuban Five”. In order to shout down these campaigns the US special services are trying to compromise the activities of G-2 but with no success. The revelatory materials about Obama’s administration’s patronage to terrorists in Bolivia, Venezuela, Nicaragua and Cuba – in most of the cases they are the result of good work of G-2. For example, the information about the gang of terrorists who arrived in Bolivia from Ireland and Eastern Europe to organize the murder of Evo Morales, was received through the channels of the Cuban intelligence. Needless to say that the Cuban special services enjoy high authority in the countries of Latin America.
In May 2004, the plan of “the liquidation of socialism on Cuba” was published in the US. In fact it was the Empire’s claim on its direct participation in the change of regime on Cuba. The secret annexes contained materials about the use of the whole range of secret operations including incentives on encouragement of dissident groups under slogans of democratization of the political system and dismantlement of “Castro-communism”. As the icon figures all well known dissidents were used: Hector Palacios, Angel Moya, Laura Pollan (leader of the Cuban dissident group Ladies in White), Osvaldo Paya and others. The competition between the dissident leaders becomes more intense and it seems that frequently voiced assumptions that there are G2 agents among them are not groundless.
President Obama has asked the Congress to increase the financing of the US representative office on Cuba and the Cuban Affairs Office at the State Department. In 2012, it is planned to allocate at least $20 million on all these purposes. On propaganda radio and TV programs $30 more million will be spent. The oppositional bloggers are being promoted more and more intensively too. It is remarkable that while the federal spending on the aid to other countries is being cut the US government plans to seriously increase the official “Cuban budget” to form the “resistance front”. According to experts’ estimates, the budget’s secret part may amount to $60-70 million.
The trial of a 61-year American Alan Gross, a “contractor” of USAID has just been held in Havana. Gross was accused of implementation of a project aimed at involving the university, cultural and religious circles into the anti-governmental activities. The American “distributed” among its dissident groups satellite communication devices to establish constant contact with the operative base of the CIA on Miami. The court found that Gross’ activities undermined the country’s sovereignty and threatened its territorial integrity. He was sentenced to 15 years in prison.
The US authorities threatened that there will be no improvement in relations between Washington and Havana if Gross is not released. In Havana they took this statement calmly. Making promises but not to keep them has become a common practice of the Empire. According to the Cuban authorities, the only acceptable variant to resolve this problem is to swap Gross for the members of the Five.
