The bottom of the problem is that NATO was structured for that bipolar world which no longer exists... There is considerable unease about the USA as the unofficial senior member having a unilateralist government, dangerously claiming the right to exercise pre-emptive strikes and circumventing the UN... The Chicago summit has proven once again – NATO is an organization that has lost its purpose and is unable to find a raison d’etre in the contemporary world...

The U.S. Administration explains that the hyperactivity of the FBI and the rest of the U.S. intelligence community in Puerto Rico is a part of the response to the threat posed by terrorist groups, drug cartels, and agents of hostile regimes. The U.S. hit list, it must be noted, includes as legitimate targets the radical separatists who, in fact, are ordinary Puerto Ricans trying to press for the independence of their country... In Washington, the hopes of the Puerto Rican nationally oriented forces for a reunion with other Latin American nations are seen as a risk to the U.S. interests in the region...

The US presidential election now has its main characters in place as Mitt Romney has vanquished each of his foes. Now the never ending Media speculation takes place; every utterance of candidates is analyzed. President Obama drew first blood when he came out on side of gay marriages at the same time (an amazing coincidence!) that it was learned that Romney had bullied gays when he was at school...

...There are times when India needs to stand up and speak out that the US' regional policies -- toward the Middle East and Central Asia – seriously endanger India's long-term interests. To meekly behave, instead, like a poodle, as the Indian government has done on the Iran sanctions, may not even be the best opportunistic course available.

The American web giant Google has recently fueled an anti-Iranian campaign by removing the name of Persian Gulf from its online maps and Google Earth plans. No Google official was ready to give comments on this questionable move, and Iranians are still wondering what motives have caused the American company to take such a thoughtless action...

There is a great deal of truth in the proverb saying “As you sow so you shall reap”. At the moment, we witness the U.S. fall victim to this inescapable law, which, in the realm of history, typically materializes within the cycle of 70 years. In a remotely congenial example, Russia’s Bolsheviks degenerated over the seven decades of their undivided rule into a corrupt elite which ultimately betrayed the Soviet Union in the late 1980ies. The present-day America's patriots, a group planted by the U.S. Administration as a grassroots anticommunist movement, in the long run has morphed into a threat to the elite which authored the project...

...The report contains an important admission that Washington's tactic of propping up overseas opposition groups, inciting unrest, and organizing revolts in other countries is beginning to backfire. The approach is being adopted by the US right who increasingly rely on social media to enlist supporters and deliberately maintain an evasive and loosely structured opposition movement.

The probability is rather high the geopolitical battles around the North Stream will intensify in the near future. The USA acts as the leading instigator. One can expect the Scandinavian and Baltic states, as well as Poland to renew the previous attacks against the project. It’s not excluded the project will join the agenda of the impending top-level meetings: the G8 summit on May 18-19 in the US President’s Camp David country retreat and the NATO summit on May 20-21 in Chicago...

The UK is not in the Euro and refuses to help bail out poverty stricken members. That is the essence of the matter, for it indicates that she may opt in for the benefits but never for the obligations and this goes back a very long way…To make matters worse, the economic collapses within Europe (not helped by Britain watching from the sidelines) make it difficult to keep the inner politics from turning self destructive...

The U.S. is strengthening its network of military bases in Asia Pacific in anticipation of China's making deeper inroads into the region... Chavez bluntly said that the UNASUR jump to unity over the common defensive doctrine was inspired by the Libyan and other dramas provoked by U.S. interventions. Indeed, there are absolutely no reasons to believe that the Libyan scenario will not some day materialize in Latin America.
