The Destruction of Chemical Weapons in Syria: The Different Approaches of Russia and the US

...It is impossible not to notice the White House’s painful attitude towards the leading role being played by Russia in Syria’s chemical disarmament. According to a number of congressmen, Obama’s administration is too dependent on Moscow on this issue... Moscow is strictly observing the allocation of responsibilities approved by the international community: it is the Syrian government’s responsibility to transport the chemical weapons to Latakia; while Russia and China, whose ships have already exported dangerous materials south of the Apennine Peninsula and are ready for the next voyage, are to ensure the safety of the operation in Syrian territorial waters...

Syria: Strike Probability Increases as Chemical Disarmament Proceeds

...The process of Syria’s chemical weapons elimination is making headway fully in accordance with the plan worked out by the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons. That in turn poses a moral challenge to the Nobel committee in Stockholm: Isn’t it about time the Peace Prize is awarded to the anti-war American lobby that has finally succeeded in creating such a compelling public opinion that the US political establishment is forced to pay heed to? The time may have come to honor Noam Chomsky.

Romania Hits List of Targets

The US has made its partner a target for Russian air strikes. According to Russian Interfax-AVN agency, the Russian Ministry of Defense has taken a decision to deploy a squadron of long-range, supersonic bombers Tu-22М3 with variable sweep wing to Crimea with the option of eventually sending an entire regiment to the peninsula in response to Eastern European NATO allies' reinforcement plans. An air force squadron normally consists of between 10 and 24 military aircraft, however it can include more. A regiment consists of several squadrons...
