More Spying Antics

Russia has long needed the capability to respond to maritime contingencies by operating Landing Helicopter Dock (LHD) amphibious assault ships. The best vessels available appeared to be the French Mistral Class and in 2009 Russia’s then Chief of the General Staff, General Nikolai Makarov, announced that «We are negotiating the purchase of one ship at present and later planning to acquire 3-4 ships...»

NSA has become a rogue elephant

The National Security Agency, which has billed itself as merely an agency that collects and analyzes foreign signals intelligence and seeks to protect U.S. communications and computer networks from surveillance, has embarked on missions that take it into the territory of lawlessness and rogue operations.

The Spies of GCHQ and NSA — and the Entertainment Business

On June 14 the Murdoch-owned Sunday Times of London alleged that Britain has withdrawn spies from «hostile countries» because Russia and China had supposedly cracked codes in documents made public by Edward Snowden.  Many of these documents showed that the spy agencies of Britain and America had acted with blatant illegality in conducting operations, and since that revelation there has been an energetic and fairly successful campaign by authorities in both countries to try to smear Snowden and convince the world that Uncontrolled Spying is Good for Freedom.

NSA makes medical intelligence operations a priority

In yet another worrying sign that the U.S. National Security Agency has completely gone off the rails, a June 2010 PowerPoint slide, titled «Medical Pattern of Life: Targeting High Value Individual № 1», subtitled «SIGINT [signals intelligence] Enabling HUMINT [human intelligence]/Targeting», describes how NSA is using medical intelligence (MEDINT) to target medical patients. The PowerPoint presentation is classified TOP SECRET/COMINT [Communications Intelligence]. By misusing medical information and data to target patients for either surveillance or assassination, NSA is on shaky ground with regard to abiding by the privacy and data protection acts of dozens of nations, as well as international law on human rights and warfare...

Patriot Act Hung in Air: End of NSA Spying Activities?

No matter how hard President Obama tried to push the Patriot Act through, Senate failed to avoid the expiration of its key provisions. Republican Senator Rand Paul, a presidential hopeful, achieved his goal. He filibustered the vote to upstage the administration and some Republican heavy weights who wanted the global spying on US citizens and foreigners to continue. One of the hawks, Republican John McCain, said bluntly that Rand Paul «obviously has a higher priority for his fundraising and political ambitions than for the security of the nation»...

USA and Germany. Masters and Vassals

Der Spiegel wrote that BND provided the National Security Agency with classified data. The Bundesnachrichtendienst is accused of processing more than 40,000 requests from the NSA to spy on people, businesses and institutions in Europe. Among the reported targets: German arms manufacturers, the EADS aerospace consortium and the French government. Will there be consequences?.. German media tell readers that the Chancellor did not know about the BND practice, but who would believe that? New revelations only make Germans more convinced that their country is not a sovereign state. There is no way to escape from the crisis of confidence between masters and vassals divided by the Atlantic.

Netanyahu’s Spying Denials Contradicted by Secret NSA Documents

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu yesterday vehemently denied aWall Street Journal report, leaked by the Obama White House, that Israel spied on U.S. negotiations with Iran and then fed the intelligence to Congressional Republicans. His office’s denial was categorical and absolute, extending beyond this specific story to U.S.-targeted spying generally, claiming: “The state of Israel does not conduct espionage against the United States or Israel’s other allies.”

Washington Spies on NATO; Other Allies

As the United States marshals its eastern European NATO allies to confront Russia and the independence governments and movements in the Donbass and Odessa regions of Ukraine, the latest revelations of National Security Agency whistleblower Edward Snowden confirm that the then-U.S. ambassador to the United Nations Susan Rice ordered NSA to spy on the Washington embassies and New York UN delegations of a number of U.S. allies, including NATO members...

The Massive PSYOP Employed against Ukraine by GCHQ and NSA

...In Ukraine, the democratically-elected government of President Viktor Yanukovych fell more quickly than either Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak or Libyan leader Muammar Qaddafi simply because the Western corporate media fully cooperated in FIVE EYES efforts to activate armies of sock puppets with aliases who disseminated anti-Yanukovych propaganda and, with the assistance of the global corporate news media, «pushed stories»... One media organization after another likened the shooting deaths to the Tiananmen Square massacre of 1989 and Yanukovych was likened to Saddam Hussein and Qaddafi, both of whom fell victim to early embryonic computer network information operations...

NATO Winds Up Emergency Meeting on Plans to Bolster Turkey’s Security

Amid rising tensions following the air strikes launched by Ankara against Kurdish fighters as well as the Islamic State (IS), and warnings of a civil war breaking out in Turkey, an emergency NATO’s Council meeting took place on July 28 in Brussels under Article 4 of the alliance’s founding treaty to gauge the threat the Islamic State extremist group poses to Turkey, and the actions Turkish authorities are taking in response...
