The Bitter Fruit of ‘Bibi-ism’

A constant irritant exacerbating the anger in the Middle East is the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, with Israeli Prime Minister “Bibi” Netanyahu privately believing that no solution is really possible though he may pretend otherwise in public, what some call “Bibi-ism,” writes Michael Winship.

The Unreality of the Iran-Nuke Fight

Israel is throwing the full weight of its U.S. lobby to crush the Iran nuclear agreement, but there are other factors adding momentum to the opposition – partisanship among Republicans and money from Israeli backers to propagandize the American people, explains ex-CIA analyst Paul R. Pillar.

Israel categorically rejects the nuclear deal with Iran

One of the many stumbling blocks - if not the biggest one - that immediately emerged to impede the agreement on Iran’s nuclear program (recently signed by the group of six world powers) is the position of Israel. «The world is a much more dangerous place today than it was yesterday» - with these words, that country’s prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, began his assessment of the accord, which was broadcast to the world in English. He called it «a stunning historic mistake»...

The World Rebukes Netanyahu

Led by President Obama, six world powers ignored Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu’s harangues against Iran and agreed to a plan for limiting – not bombing – Iran’s nuclear program. But Netanyahu wields more sway with Congress and the mainstream media, which parrot his complaints, writes Robert Parry.

Netanyahu’s Spying Denials Contradicted by Secret NSA Documents

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu yesterday vehemently denied aWall Street Journal report, leaked by the Obama White House, that Israel spied on U.S. negotiations with Iran and then fed the intelligence to Congressional Republicans. His office’s denial was categorical and absolute, extending beyond this specific story to U.S.-targeted spying generally, claiming: “The state of Israel does not conduct espionage against the United States or Israel’s other allies.”

The Loser in the Israeli Elections Is... Barack Obama

Benjamin Netanyahu won a fairly convincing victory in the Israeli elections held on 17 March, although it was probably the most difficult of his political career, while the biggest loser in the elections was... Barack Obama. There are many moments that the Israelis will remember about these elections, but first and foremost they will remember the unprecedented degree of US intervention in the affairs of their country...

Netanyahu Charges that Scandinavia Is Part of Conspiracy against Him: The Opposite Is True

In the final countdown to the Israeli election, Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu charged that there was a vast left-wing international conspiracy against him with the primary perpetrators being the Scandinavian countries... However comical Netanyahu’s statements about Scandinavia serving as the center of anti-Likud worldwide operations, it is true that Israel has, for decades, infiltrated Scandinavian political parties, parliaments, newspapers, and intelligence agencies to promote Israel’s cause diplomatically and in the media...

US: No Stance on Iran

US Secretary of State John Kerry will travel to Lausanne, Switzerland, on March 15 to meet with Iranian Foreign Minister Zarif as part of continuing talks on Tehran's nuclear program. What stance will Iran take in its dialogue with the US government which is losing trust? As the meeting approaches, 47 Republican senators sent an open letter to Iran warning that a nuclear deal signed by Barack Obama will stop being effective as soon as the incumbent President leaves the White House. Nothing like that has ever happened in the Senate’s 226-year history...

Obama’s Iran Policy Close to Failure

The next round of talks on Iran’s nuclear program is scheduled on March 15-20 with final agreement to be reached till March 24. This is a very dubious prospect... French President Francois Hollande openly says France does not approve the unilateral concessions that, to his mind, Washington is ready to make. According to Hollande, the number of centrifuges to be used by Iran for uranium enrichment under the US version of the agreement is «unacceptable»... The ten-year long effort may end up in deadlock...

Noose Tightens on Turkey’s Sultan of Swing

Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan – a self-styled neo-Ottoman sultan – was only a few years a darling of Western governments and media, proclaimed as a moderniser of Turkey, overseeing a bustling economy and positioning his country as a strategic bridge to Asia...
