CIA Black Sites and Washington’s Allies

They certainly sought to please in those initial dark days when a position at the NATO table was at stake. This was something of a New World Order – the attacks after September 11, 2001 did certainly allow Washington to make that spurious case. The stakes were high, and the “need” for pressing intelligence saw a crude clipping of various liberties and protections.

Lithuanian Regime and Technology of Political Duplicity

To what extent does the Lithuanian political regime match the standards of civilized Europe? It’s hard to give an unambiguous answer. That’s what comes to mind on February 16 – the Lithuania’s Independence Day marked by marches of Neo-Nazis in Kaunas, Lithuania’s second-largest city. On October 28, 1941 German and Lithuanian fascists joined together to eliminate the local ghetto executing 10 thousand Jews in one day...

U.S. Citizens Continue to Infiltrate Eastern European Governments

The recent appointment of the austerity-loving U.S. citizen and investment firm chief Natalie Jaresko as Ukraine’s Finance Minister continues a trend that has seen one Eastern European country after another appointing or electing U.S. citizens as major government officials... The current leader of the Polish parliament (Sejm) is former Foreign and Defense Minister Radoslaw Sikorski, a former U.S. resident and British citizen. Sikorski is married to the neocon columnist Anne Applebaum, a member of the editorial board of The Washington Post... The bow-tied President of Estonia, Toomas Hendrik Ilves, grew up in New Jersey and attended Columbia University and the University of Pennsylvania... Valdas Adamkus served two terms as President of Lithuania. Adamkus was a U.S. citizen and a Ronald Reagan–appointed senior official of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and served as a non-commissioned officer for the U.S. Fifth Army Military Intelligence unit... Other Americans who have embedded in Eastern European governments and political organizations include Ljubica Acevska, who became Macedonia’s first ambassador to the United States; Ukrainian anti-Russian politician Ivan Lozowy; Roman Zvarych, who became Minister of Justice in the Yushchenko government; and Peter Zwack, who became Hungarian ambassador to the United States and chairman of the Hungarian Entrepreneurs’ Party...

LITPOLUKRBRIG: Another EU and NATO Combat Unit Created Against Russia to Be Joined by Ukraine

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk and Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko held a phone conversation on July 14. There was a plethora of burning issues to tackle, still the leaders found time to discuss the urgent enhancement of Lithuania - Poland - Ukrainian brigade (LITPOLUKRBRIG) up to operational status. The signing is to be expedited as the events in Ukraine unfold... LITPOLUKRBRIG, the V4 battle group, the extension of US presence and the intensification of special operations activities are all hostile concerted actions of EU, Ukraine and NATO in stark violation of the Founding Act on Mutual Relations, Cooperation and Security between NATO and the Russian Federation signed in 1997...

NATO Beefs Up European Presence – Balancing on Brink of Dangerous Aggravation

«Changes to troop locations will be made at the political level to address the new paradigm in the wake of the Russian-Ukraine crisis», Air Force Gen. Philip Breedlove, head of U.S. European Command and Supreme Allied Commander Europe, tweeted on May 7... The exercises conducted simultaneously result in a dangerous stand-off. It means balancing on the brink of serious aggravation and nobody knows where a spark may come from. SOF subversive activities in the explosive region are certainly not the best way to ease tensions. Sitting down and talking things over is a much more preferable approach. Perhaps the international event in Normandy was a chance President Obama opted to miss. But it’s never too late to do what is right.

NATO Steps Up Hostilities over Ukraine (II)

The US military is working with the State Department and NATO allies to provide support to Ukraine. Evelyn N. Farkas, Assistant Secretary of Defense for Russia, Ukraine and Eurasia told the Senate Foreign Relations Committee on May 6, «we will use all available tools to provide meaningful cost-effective support to Ukraine’s security institutions». DOD officials also continue to engage with their Ukrainian counterparts, Farkas said, noting that a high-level US-Ukraine meeting is scheduled next month. The United States is also taking steps to support non-NATO partners – such as Moldova and Georgia, she said...

US Uses Ukraine as Pretext for Launching Energy War against Russia

As it became clear that the economic sanctions against Russia are going to backlash against the United States and the European Union, the West started to study other ways to «punish» Russia, including bringing down market energy rates. Obama promised to start gas deliveries from the US straight to Europe. Many saw it as the start of energy war against Russia. On March 26, the US House Foreign Affairs Committee held hearing on «The Geopolitical Potential of the U.S. Energy Boom» to study the ways how the energy production growth in the United States could be used against Russia... Ed Royce (R-CA), Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs, said Europe’s dependence on Russia’s energy supplies paralyzed the US Ukraine’s policy. The US influence and the authority of US President have diminished globally. According to Royce, the way to rectify the situation is to weaken Russia by pushing it away from traditional markets and bringing energy prices down...

EU: Сolossus with Feet of Clay

Ten years ago, on March 29, 2004, the EU took a hasty decision on enlargement adding simultaneously ten more new members: Poland, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Slovenia, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Cyprus and Malta. As a result, the European Union became an all-European organization instead of being an economic community. It gave rise to new problems and contradictions... The Ukraine’s becoming a failed state is a result of the EU’s policy of expansion further into Eurasia with the help of Eastern Partnership program...

CIA Given Free Hand in Lithuania

«Irina» is from Kaliningrad. She was recruited with the help of blackmail and threats. The NTV documentary Call Agent is based on her confession. The film reveals the methods of work employed by the State Security Department of the Republic of Lithuania... The Lithuanian secret service curators tasked «Irina» with gathering information to discredit Lithuanian politicians, entrepreneurs, journalists and diplomats. She conducted her activities under the guidance of former Lithuanian consul in Kaliningrad Mindaugas Jaskevicius and the head of security service Renatas Pyatkus among others. The both men are on the CIA’s payroll... Years have passed since Lithuania became independent but Washington still harbors doubts about political reliability of the country’s political elite...
