The voice of the new right in European politics

After their success in the European Parliament elections in May 2014, Europe’s new right is moving to consolidate its organizational structure. In June of last year, the leader of the UK Independence Party (UKIP), Nigel Farage, created the Europe of Freedom and Direct Democracy faction out of Eurosceptic movements within the European Parliament (48 deputies). In March of this year, Marine Le Pen’s National Front (FN) won 25% of the votes in local elections and strengthened its position as France’s second biggest political party. In some French regions, Le Pen’s party is eclipsing Nicolas Sarkozy’s UMP...

Rule By The Corporations: who needs governments?

The Transatlantic and Transpacific Trade and Investment Partnerships have nothing to do with free trade.  “Free trade” is used as a disguise to hide the power these agreements give to corporations to use law suits to overturn sovereign laws of nations that regulate pollution, food safety, GMOs, and minimum wages, and permit the use of generic medicines.

European Parliament’s New «Neo-Nazi / Far Right» – Not so «Nazi» and not so «Far Right»

Amid all the hair pulling and teeth gnashing by the Eurocrats and their overly paid pundits in the media about how the European Parliament electoral victories of the Eurosceptic French National Front, UK Independence Party, Danish People’s Party, and other «far right» parties could spell the imminent doom for the European Union, some level-headed observations are in order... The entrance of a large bloc of Eurosceptic parties into the Strasbourg parliament has resulted in confusion among the right, the center, and the left. Perhaps, this is because the old labels applied to the political spectrum are no longer applicable. Even the spectrum no longer applies...

European Parliament Elections: Old Continent Turning Right

The European Parliament is the directly elected parliamentary institution of the European Union. On May 22-25, 2014 it held its first election after the Lisbon Treaty came into force on December 1, 2009... The election will go down in history as a stunning gain for Eurosceptics – the far-right demanding to curtail immigration flows, restore national boundaries and return the sovereignty of state. They want to leave the eurozone and adopt independent economic policy... The turn for the right in many EU member states reflects the rejection of globalist policy aimed at elimination of European traditional values related to the Christian faith, family and national homeland...

Marine Le Pen: «We Have Never Been Wrong»

It is hard to tell which of the two emotions – national pride or  indignation over obvious injustice – fuels the revival of the Europeans' unique national spirit. This year the process which the European political class is desperately trying to impede manifested itself in a pattern-setting array of political developments... At the moment the cause which is evidently gaining momentum is championed by Marion Anne Perrine Le Pen, the daughter of the charismatic French nationalist Jean-Marie Le Pen and an increasingly visible figure on Europe's political horizon...

India’s passage through Central Asian steppes needs rethink

The steppes of Central Asia give away their secrets only grudgingly. The deserving ones have to convincingly show their capacity for persistence and tenacity – and, of course, sheer audacity. That was how Genghis Khan succeeded in conquering Bukhara...
