Washington is Voting for the Candidate of War in Colombia

The second round of the presidential elections in Colombia will take place on 15 June. Despite predictions, the first round did not end in favour of current president Juan Manuel Santos, who ceded three percent of the vote to his main rival Oscar Zuluaga... During confidential meetings with representatives of the US Embassy in Bogota, Zuluaga guaranteed the further strengthening of Colombia’s allied relations with America... Truce Talks and US Destabilization Attempts in Columbia

Though the raids launched by the Columbian special forces and directed by advisers from the CIA and the Pentagon indeed culminated in the killings of several guerrilla leaders, claims that the strikes left the FARC - Columbia's Revolutionary Armed Forces - demoralized appear to be a gross overstatement... Will Ankara Continue Its Gas Games behind Baku’s Back?

...If Ankara continues its game behind Baku’s back, forcing Azerbaijan to make concessions on gas contracts previously entered into, then Azerbaijan has an alternative. Two days before Erdogan’s visit to Ashgabat, the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan announced the resumption of gas exports to Russia in 2015, which were suspended for technical reasons in August 2013. By strengthening its ties with Moscow, Baku will be able to successfully withstand increasing pressure from Turkey on the issue of gas.
