70 Years Dividing Bretton Woods Conference and Fortaleza Decisions

This July the world marks the 70 years anniversary of Bretton Woods Conference, formally known as the United Nations Monetary and Financial Conference... As 70 years since Bretton Woods have passed, a heavy blow was delivered against international financial institutions. The attack came from the resort city of Fortaleza in Brazil. Although the theme of the summit was “social inclusion”, at the top of the agenda is the creation of two new entities controlled entirely by the five BRICS members. The Bank is setup to foster greater financial and development cooperation among the five emerging markets. It would be headquartered in Shanghai, China and the first chief executive will come from India. The New Development Bank (NDB) will fund development projects independent of the US-controlled World Bank, and the Contingent Reserve Arrangement (CRA) will provide relief from the austere conditions and requirements of the IMF...

Putin in Latin America

During his Latin American tour President Putin never said the voyage was a response to US-led NATO provocative activities near the Russian borders. He never made any statements of confrontational nature, no matter the US used the aggravated crisis in Ukraine to flex its muscle along the Russian borders... The trip encompassed Cuba, Nicaragua, Argentina and Brazil. Nothing like this has ever happened in the days of the Soviet Union... There is each and every ground to talk about renaissance of Latin-US relationship...

Way Back to Sky Blue Havana

Russian President Vladimir Putin began a six-day Latin American tour to coincide with the BRICS summit in Brasilia. The full agenda encompasses Cuba, Nicaragua, Argentina and Brazil... The President Putin’s tour started with the country which treats Russia with sympathy and love... The Russia’s President’s visit has a symbolic significance. Having gone through hard times in recent years the alliance between Russia and Cuba that emerged so may years ago after the victory of Cuban revolution has grown even stronger adapted to new historic realities... Russia plans to take part in developing the free trade zone in the port city of Mariel located in the vicinity of Havana. Health care and energy joint projects are on the rise. The military cooperation is also being intensified. Cubans know well how to handle the Russian systems...

Obama prepares to smash BRICS during his last few years in office

The buildup of NATO air and ground forces along the borders of Russia in eastern Europe and President Barack Obama’s American power-influencing trip to Asia have a single purpose. The seen and unseen forces who dictate policy to their political puppets in Washington, London, Paris, Brussels, Berlin, and other vassal capital cities have decided to smash BRICS – the emergent financial power bloc encompassing Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa... Not only are the BRICS countries shedding their dependency on the U.S. dollar as a trading and reserve currency, thus making the U.S. fiat currency backed by the manipulative practices of the U.S. Federal Reserve Bank, even more worthless than it already is, but Russia and China are already trading in the ruble and the yuan, their respective currencies...

China’s Presence in Latin America: Strategy of Gradual Squeezing US Out

The United States keeps on getting mired in the quagmire of Ukraine’s crisis. Meanwhile China is intensifying diplomatic efforts in Latin America. Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi has just wound up his Latin America trip. He has visited Cuba, Venezuela, Argentina and Brazil.  China’s top leader Xi Jinping is to tour the region in July... The US has lost its financial might struggling for world leadership and involved in overseas wars. To large extent China has taken its place...

Latin America Chooses Russia-Made Weapons

Latin American experts know it well – Russia-made weapons are known for quality. Rosoboronexport (the state intermediary agency for Russia’s exports/imports of defense-related products, technologies and services) has rich experience of doing deals in the Western Hemisphere – from Mexico to Chile... FIDAE-2014, the International Air and Space Fair, took place on March 25 – 28, 2014, in Santiago de Chile. It became another step on the way of expanding Russia’s presence on Latin American arms market...

The Strategic Consequences of Edward Snowden's Revelations (II)

...While some time ago scientists said that creating a quantum computer would take at least 100 years, now, according to Seth Lloyd, a leading specialist on quantum mechanics from MIT, one could say that the goal will be reached within the next decade, but no earlier than 5 years, as the scientists still have a lot of work to do in this field. As with any great invention, quantum computers could accomplish many grandiose tasks, including the creation of artificial intelligence. However, when the main initiator of their creation is the NSA, it is not thoughts of the benefit of humanity that come to mind, but thoughts of the establishment of total control over humanity...

Latin America and the U.S.: The Apotheosis of Distrust

The year 2013 was shockingly damaging to relations between the U.S. and the countries of Latin America. Edward Snowden's revelations showed that in the Western Hemisphere, Washington is trying to play only by the rules it itself has written. Using such spying programs as Prism, Boundless Informant and others, U.S. intelligence was collecting strategically useful information throughout the South American continent and using it to ensure the effectiveness of its policy in the region...

The Monroe Doctrine is History, But the Empire is Attacking Everywhere

U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry has announced the end of "the era of the Monroe Doctrine". On November 18 he gave a keynote speech on partnership with Latin America at the headquarters of the Organization of American States in Washington... «America for the Americans» - the United States used this slogan to mask the imperialist essence of the doctrine, which was used in the Cold War years to counter «Soviet expansion».  The Monroe Doctrine has been used to justify the suppression of revolutions in Guatemala and Chile, the physical elimination of popular leaders, and military operations against guerillas in Cuba, Nicaragua and other countries...

Obama Makes Confrontation with Russia Reach Point of No Return

The US miserable failure to come up with clear-cut assessment concerning the Malaysian Boeing, the aggressiveness and cynicism of American propaganda against Russia – it all makes President Obama deteriorate the relationship with Moscow to the point of no return. His actions have nothing to do with common sense. Ralph Peters is a foreign policy analyst for Fox News. Speaking to Megyn Kelly July 21 night he said President Obama is scared of Vladimir Putin... Locked in the Oval office like in a bunker, he rarely makes public appearances and prefers to communicate with other world leaders by phone. In his relationship with his Russian counterpart he does not do even that. He has not discussed the Malaysian airliner tragedy with Putin at all, not a single time. The wish for demonstrative muscle flexing has given place to fear of public failure...
