Nigeria on Fire

In July 2014 the activities of Boko Harum – a terrorist group operating in Nigeria – intensified activities on a broader scale. Skirmishes with the government troops turned into real battles. Terrorist acts became much more frequent and the fighting has gone beyond the state borders. The Boko Harum terrorist group appears to become an international organization... On July 27 Boko Haram militants attacked the northern Cameroon town of Kolofata and seized several people including the wife of Cameroon's Vice Prime Minister Amadou Ali. The official was taken away from the place by his guards. The mayor and his family were taken hostage. The clashes with the Cameroon army lasted for a few days...

Made in Saudi Arabia: Salafist Radicalism in Africa

Hardline Islamist radicalism, nurtured by Saudi Arabia’s vast oil wealth, is spreading through Africa at a rapid pace. Radical Salafist and Wahhabist groups with names like Boko Haram, Seleka, and Uamsho, unheard of a decade ago, are massacring Christians during church assemblies, razing Christian villages, and assassinating moderate Islamic clerics. Of course, this Saudi-made mayhem is a godsend for the U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM), which can point to the spread of «Al Qaeda»-linked terrorism to Africa as a reason to increase America’s military presence on the continent and add armed muscle behind Uncle Sam’s quest for Africa’s oil, natural gas, and mineral resources...

Africa: Terror Territory

Until the late 1990s, Africa was a terror-free zone. Terror raged in various places throughout the world, but the African continent was unfamiliar with this phenomenon. The situation changed in 1998 after large-scale simultaneous terrorist attacks in Kenya and Tanzania, when the U.S. embassies in both Nairobi and Dar es Salaam were attacked... Today Africa has become the main arena for international terrorism. Currently, dozens of large international terrorist organizations are active there... The beginning of 2013 was marked by an increase in the activity of terrorist groups in Africa. Recent weeks have brought news of more and more new terrorist attacks...

Africa on the Brink of New Shocks

The state powers of North Africa and the Middle East overtly routed, the process of destabilization in Nigeria and some other Africa South of Sahara countries moved a little away from the radar screen. But the recent events taking place in the most populated country of Africa make themselves be viewed against the backdrop of the «Arab spring», or «Arab leprosy» to be more precise... Today Nigeria has entered the period of abruptly intensified efforts of outside forces to turn the country’s internal contradictions to their own advantage. The same thing threatens other countries, first of all Algiers, Niger and Mali...

Kiev Elections Can’t Sanitise State of Mob Rule

The Kiev regime’s parliamentary elections this weekend are set to go ahead amid an atmosphere of rampant political street violence and intimidation – and that’s not in the war-torn eastern part of Ukraine. The parliamentary elections were called in June by the then elected President Petro Poroshenko as a way of legitimising the illegal coup against the Ukrainian government that occurred four months previously with the support of the American Central Intelligence Agency... In the paraphrased words of Abraham Lincoln, no electoral process can sanitise the glaring fact of Kiev’s rule of the mob, by the mob, for the mob.
