Ukraine, Syria Hold Elections: Another Good Example of Double Standards Practiced by West

There was a 10-day period between the recent presidential elections held in Ukraine and Syria. The two states face unrest while the government forces are fighting insurgents. In the both cases the United States and Europe take an unambiguous stance throwing their support behind one of the belligerents.  What strikes an eye is that they apply absolutely contrasting approaches depending on each case.  No matter the Kiev regime continues to deliver massive strikes against civilians in Donbass using artillery and aviation, the results of Ukrainian election are recognized with no strings attached by the United States and Europe. They say the election fully met the democratic standards.   Talking about the expression of Syrian people’s will, U.S. State Department deputy spokeswoman Marie Harf said the election was a “disgrace” and “staged”...

Homs Taken Back, Bashar Assad’s Victory Close as Never Before

While the world attention is focused on Ukraine, the events in Syria may significantly affect the situation in the Middle East and the world. The forces of Bashar Assad have fully liberated Homs, the third largest city of the country with a population of one million where the uprising started around three years back... Analysts already make conjectures related to the would-be correlation of forces in the Middle East after the inevitable victory of Bashar Assad which is close. The forecasts are worrisome for Washington. The emerging axis Tehran-Bagdad-Damascus-Beirut is a nightmare and thanks to the awkward policies implemented by former President George Bush and incumbent President Barack Obama it is close to becoming a reality. They did their best to make it come true. By and large the White House behaves the same way in Ukraine. Its Ukrainian policy may also fail the same way.

A New War within a War in Syria

The West, perhaps without even trying, through its most recent arms shipments to the Syrian opposition, including those in which Saudi Arabia participated, has taken the civil war in Syria to a new level of conflict - a war of «all versus all»... The British publication The Independent poses the question of how it is possible in the conditions of civil war to supply arms to the «good guys» and not to the «bad guys». History teaches us that they can easily switch places, and that the latter may very well win...

Israel's «Golan Poker»: Tel Aviv and Doha vs. Damascus

Events in the Golan Heights have given the Syrian side cause to say that Qatar and Israel are collaborating with the rebels... А strong terrorist foothold behind which Israel is hiding de facto already exists in the buffer zone. Israel's collaboration with terrorists is becoming clearer and clearer. Besides their activity in the buffer zone, they play the role of special forces which conduct reconnaissance and prepare the way for air strikes... The Israeli air strikes against military sites near the Syrian capital in May were well synchronized with the activities of FSA fighters and Islamist terrorist groups... Russian peacekeepers are undesirable in the «Golan poker» the West is playing together with Israel...

«The Mother of All Battles»

The Syrian army is successfully expanding its most important operation since the beginning of the civil war, launched on June 9 of this year. This operation, «Northern Storm», is aimed at liberating the opposition’s main stronghold – the city of Aleppo, the country's largest city and most important economic center, located near the Turkish border – from rebel forces... Decisions of the country's leader and the Syrian army command are astounding in their forethought and even their strategic elegance... The army is occupying key points, cutting off the opposition's most important lines of communication and supply routes, and then unerringly determining the direction for the main strike. And the political leadership is just as ably ensuring the aid of allies and protection of the army's flanks... A radically new element in the developments in Syria which further worsens the rebels' situation is the active involvement of Baghdad in the conflict... Tel Aviv is also experiencing growing difficulties in connection with its involvement in the Syrian conflict...

US Makes Syria an ‘Offer it Can’t Refuse’ – again

In Mafia terms, it’s called «making an offer that can’t be refused». The «offer» is not one of free choice between options that may benefit the object party. In reality, it is about setting up a scenario of duress, under which the object party is coerced to capitulate to detrimental terms of extreme prejudice determined cynically by the other party. This is the scenario that Washington and its NATO allies are contriving for the Syrian government of President Bashar al-Assad...

Looking for Way Out of Syrian Crisis

There are a few terror radical Islamist groups in Syria supported from outside: Al Qaeda, Fatah al-Islam (Conquest of Islam), Junud al-Islam (Soldiers of Islam), Firaq Allah (Brigades of Allah), A Talia al-Mukatila (Fighting Vanguard), the military wing of Muslim brothers, Al-Nusra Front (The Support Front for the People of Syria), gangs of criminals... In 2012-2013 these groups conducted terrorist activities in Homs, Idlib, Aleppo, Damascus, the death toll was hundreds of civilians...

Aleppo: Tragedy Continues

For the last one and a half year Aleppo has become a scene of large-scale battle, the major part of the city is under control of the so called Free Syrian Army. There is scarcity of food, especially bread; many areas are left without electricity. In a recent mopping up operation in a city quarter a large depot of medicine was found. It had been stolen from a city hospital and medical centers. Many a time “the friends of Syria” resort to provocations while waging an information war. Their main goal is to possibly increase the number of civil casualties and then blame it on the Syrian government. That’s what the Western response to the Bashar Assad’s peace proposals is like...

Syria: Rebels Could Resort to Chemical Weapons Provocation

Multiple reports have appeared recently revealing that the US and its allies attack against Syria is imminent. A new propaganda story is getting more and more coverage today. According to unconfirmed reports, citing Western intelligence agencies, Syrian technicians are already loading artillery shells and airborne munitions with unconventional agents... The whole story makes the 2003 events, that had provoked the US and «the coalition of the willing» invasion of Iraq, come to mind. There was the same kind of weapons of mass destruction hype prior to launching the war that turned out to be an outright fabrication later...

The Assads: Washington’s one-time favorite family in Damascus

Archived declassified files from the Central Intelligence Agency point to successive U.S. administrations supporting Syria’s long-serving President Hafez al-Assad, the father of current President Bashar al-Assad, as a bulwark against Arab radicals. Israel also recognized Hafez al-Assad as the “most pragmatic” of all the Arab leaders of his day…

CIA Assassination Furthered Dutch Neo-Colonialism

It has been the policy of the Barack Obama administration to oppose the granting of independence by European colonial powers to any more territories in the Caribbean. Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte told the leaders and people of six Dutch territories in the Caribbean in July 2013 that the Netherlands was prepared to grant independence to the islands but that the United States was adamantly against the idea... But how far has the Obama administration and the freewheeling Central Intelligence Agency gone in order to prevent any newly-independent nations in the Caribbean? Some suggest that under its thuggish director, John O. Brennan, the CIA engaged in political assassination to help drive home its point...
