US to blacklist Syria’s Al-Nusra Front

News | 11.12.2012 | 13:35

The US is considering blacklisting Syria’s Al-Nusra Front, a rebel group fighting the Assad regime.

The State Department hasn’t formally outlawed the jihadist grouping yet, although it has posted a declaration in the Federal Register describing Al-Nusra Front as a terrorist organization and an Al-Qaeda alias.

Members of the Front have been fighting to overthrow the Assad regime in Syria together with other armed terrorist groups. Recently, they have seized a military base in the northern Syrian province of Aleppo.
