The Qatari opposition has blamed the royal family for a recent deadly fire incident in the capital, Doha, which killed 19 people, including children.
The opposition said on Wednesday that a dispute within the ruling royal family was the reason behind the fire at the Villaggio mall on May 28.
Children and their teachers were trapped after the fire broke out at the Gympanzee child care center in Villaggio. Thirteen children died in the incident.
On May 29, the official Qatar News Agency said the attorney general ordered the detention of the owner of the mall, the owner of the nursery, the mall’s director and deputy director as well as the assistant director as part of an investigation into the fire.
The owner of the Gympanzee child care center is the daughter of Qatari Minister of Culture Imran al-Kuwari.
