A group of 50 Arab League observers are due to arrive in Syria today to monitor the moves by Damascus with regard to the opposition.
The first Arab experts arrived in Syria last Thursday to get preliminary information about the situation, while the Arab League mission Head, Sudanese General Muhammad Ahmed Mustafa ad-Dhabi, arrived in Syria on Sunday.
The Arab League is dispatching a total of some 200 monitors to Syria.
These are expected to stop the bloodshed and help agree a political settlement.
According to the United Nations, more than 5,000 have died in Syria in clashes since protests erupted in the Arab country earlier this year, with protesters demanding an overthrow of the Bashar Assad regime.
