Syrian security forces have successfully arrested more than 140 terrorists in several locations across the country's northwestern province of Idlib.
The forces had on Saturday carried out the raids after a thorough investigation, the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) reported.
Another 57 wanted people were arrested in the same region on Thursday
Weapons, ammunitions as well as modern communication devices had been seized during the raids.
Syria has been the scene of what many observers believe to be foreign-orchestrated political unrest since mid-March, with demonstrations being held both against and in support of President Bashar al-Assad.
Damascus says the unrest has been largely incited by elements that are well-paid and armed by foreign powers.
On Thursday, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said “some foreign countries” are trying to worsen the situation in Syria to find a pretext for their interference in the country's internal affairs.
According to the United Nations more than 3,000 people, including members of the security forces, have been killed in the turmoil.
